Located in the beautiful, quaint neighborhood of Greenwich Village in Manhattan, New York, Washington Square Park, or Washington Square, is an area known for beautiful tree-lined sidewalks, street musicians, and a one-of-a-kind experience.

Currently undergoing a series of renovations, Washington Square Park has long been known for the Washington Square Arch where nearby New York University regularly holds its graduation ceremonies. During the day, and especially in the summer, residents, students, and tourists alike gather around the water fountain in the center of the park. Here people listen to live music, eat from nearby food vendors, and enjoy the sight of the brownstones and unusual building architecture that surrounds the park.

Washington Square Park is also well-known for the statue of Italian soldier Giuseppe Garibaldi located on the east side of the park and two dog parks on the west side. People also gather to eat lunch and play games of chess in the outlying portions of the park. Every October and April, the park plays host to a dachshund festival where proud dachshund owners meet with their pets for an afternoon of socializing and costume parading.
